Our Platforms
At WITS, we build and operate our own platforms for a simple reason: site owners should control their websites — not developers, agencies, or vendors.
Many modern platforms place long-term control in the hands of the people who build or host the system, rather than the people who own the business. Over time, that creates dependency, limits flexibility, and makes even small changes harder than they need to be.
Our platforms are designed to reverse that dynamic.
Why Ownership and Control Matter
For many businesses, a website starts as a simple tool — but over time it becomes a core part of how the business operates. Content grows, systems evolve, and requirements change.
Too often, that growth comes with tradeoffs:
- Content changes require developer intervention
- Platform limitations dictate business decisions
- Hosting and data are locked to a vendor
- Redesigns require rebuilds instead of evolution
We believe that site owners should remain in control as their needs change, without being forced into constant redevelopment or long-term dependency.
That belief is what drives how our platforms are designed.
WITS CMS
The WITS content management system (CMS) was developed to give site owners long-term control over their content and structure — without tying them to a specific developer or platform.
Rather than hiding core functionality behind custom code or vendor restrictions, WITS CMS is built so that:
- Content remains accessible and manageable
- Site structure can evolve without starting over
- Hosting decisions stay in the owner's hands
- The system can grow without becoming fragile
This is not a theoretical system or a client-only tool.
WITS CMS is the same system we use and maintain in production ourselves.
That real-world use shapes how it evolves — with an emphasis on durability, clarity, and owner independence rather than short-term convenience.
MyMilitaryConnection (MMC)
MyMilitaryConnection is a mission-driven platform wholly owned and operated by WITS. It was built to address a specific problem: helping military veterans and dependents reconnect across time, service locations, and shared experiences.
MMC is built using the WITS CMS, but it is not part of the CMS itself. It is a standalone platform with its own purpose, data models, and operational requirements.
The platform supports real users, complex relationships, administrative workflows, and ongoing growth. Its scale and longevity demonstrate how the CMS can support independent platforms without dictating what those platforms must be.

How the Platforms Relate
WITS CMS provides the underlying framework used to build and manage independent platforms. MyMilitaryConnection is one such platform, created for a specific mission and operating independently from the CMS itself.
While MMC uses the CMS as its foundation, it does not shape or limit the CMS's purpose. Instead, real-world operational needs from platforms like MMC help validate and refine the CMS over time.
This approach allows WITS to build mission-specific platforms without sacrificing long-term control, maintainability, or owner independence.
Looking Ahead
WITS CMS will be promoted more broadly over time as a platform built around ownership, control, and long-term maintainability.
While pricing and licensing are still being finalized, organizations interested in exploring the use of WITS CMS for their own sites are welcome to contact us to discuss whether it may be a good fit.
As always, the guiding principle remains the same: technology should empower site owners, not bind them to the people who built it.
